Na tarde de segunda-feira (09/05), a Polícia Militar (PM) foi acionada na rua Marechal Floriano Peixoto, no bairro Pontilhão, para verificar um acidente de trânsito sem vítimas envolvendo um caminhão e cinco carros.
No local, os militares se depararam com um engavetamento, na pista do meio da via, onde um caminhão Mercedes Benz, de cor vermelha, havia perdido o freio e descido de ré, atingindo a lateral de um Chevrolet Cruze e a parte frontal de um Chevrolet Astra. Em consequência do impacto, o Astro atingiu com sua traseira a parte frontal de um Hyundai HB20, que atingiu com sua traseira a parte frontal de um Fiat Palio, que bateu em uma Toyota Hilux.
O condutor do caminhão declarou que, ao subir a rua e ultrapassar o sinal verde, percebeu que uma placa de madeira desprendeu da carga do caminhão e caiu na via. De imediato, estacionou o veículo e desceu para pegar a placa que havia caído quando o caminhão desceu a via de marcha ré e atingiu os carros, tendo parado com o impacto.
Nesse momento, ele entrou no caminhão e o controlou com os freios, colocando calços de madeira para ajudar a travá-lo. Ele disse ainda que o caminhão não apresentava defeitos antes do ocorrido. O condutor não apresentava sintomas de embriaguez, é habilitado na categoria “D” e estava devidamente licenciado.
A Polícia Militar fez o registro para providências posteriores.
